MOGILEV, 28 May (BelTA) – Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko gave his take on the efficiency of Belarusian mass media as he addressed the Belarus Media Forum in Mogilev on 28 May, BelTA has learned.
“You know, I am closely following what mass media are doing. I see advancement, shortcomings, and progress. I have been told that the system of training of journalism students has been drastically overhauled in order to prioritize practical skills. Our seasoned journalists are involved in the teaching process. This is right. We need to strengthen the ranks of like-minded people and nurture a new generation of those who would propagate the truth,” Aleksandr Lukashenko emphasized.
The head of state noted that traditional media are expanding their presence in the most popular segments of the media landscape. Interesting author-developed, analytical, and entertainment projects have emerged and they have gained popularity and recognition abroad.

“The regional press has received a new impetus for development. We have opted to create media holdings. This has allowed us to contemporize many media outlets and strengthen creative and technical potential. We will keep it up, if you agree with this. But you know, the only criterion to measure success of any mass media outlet is the interest of the audience. You are actively watched, listened to, read, and quoted including by ardent opponents and destructive resources, which means that you are successful, and it is obvious that you are shaping the agenda today,” the president noted.
“But our adversary, or one might say, our enemy, is also learning from their mistakes and improving. We cannot underestimate those who view Belarus as a geopolitical target. This is not a ragtag group of freelancers, but a network of political scientists and psyop centers equipped with the most advanced technologies. You can’t even imagine the amount of money circulating there. Therefore, you need to look at yourselves critically in order to become even better, even more successful, more efficient. The year of quality and the time prompt us to improve,” said Aleksandr Lukashenko.
