MINSK, 22 May (BelTA) – Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko has appointed Valery Vakulchik Head of the Council of Ministers Office, BelTA has learned.
Up till now Valery Vakulchik has been Assistant to the President - Inspector for Brest Oblast.
"As for the head of the Council of Ministers Office, we have always appointed a military-trained and experienced individual to this position. It is a very serious post: it requires organizing the work of the government, which is a significant responsibility. Natalya Vladimirovna [Petkevich, who has been appointed Belarus’ Deputy Prime Minister; previously, she held the post of the first deputy head of the Belarus President Administration] and you will find common ground there. As systematic and demanding people, I believe you will fit well into the current government. Aleksandr Genrikhovich [Turchin, Belarus’ Prime Minister] had no objections regarding your appointment. In fact, he was happy," the president said.
