MINSK, 16 March (BelTA) – Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko approved the appointment of Ivan Krupko as Belarus' new agriculture and food minister on 16 March, BelTA has learned.
The head of state noted that the reason for this appointment was that a more experienced official is needed for this position. The president hopes that Ivan Krupko's experience as chairman of the Minsk District Executive Committee, one of the most challenging districts of the country, will give an impetus to the development of Belarus' agricultural sector.
“You know that it is not possible to work at a leisurely pace there,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said addressing Ivan Krupko. “You always have to work hard, to put it mildly,” the president added.
Former Agriculture and Food Minister Anatoly Khotko will be transferred to another job. “He has a good profession. There are enough problems in the husbandry industry. We cannot lose track of him by any means, he will get another post,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.
Ivan Krupko was born in the village of Burlevichi, Korelichi District, Grodno Oblast in 1974. He graduated from Grodno State Agrarian University in 1998 and from the Academy of Public Administration under the aegis of the President of the Republic of Belarus in 2007.
Ivan Krupko began his career in 1998 as chief zootechnician at the Rassvet collective farm in Nesvizh District. In 2003 he was transferred to the Nesvizh District Executive Committee to head the department for production and processing of agricultural products of the agriculture and food directorate. In 2006 he was appointed head of the department and then first deputy head of the directorate. In 2010 he was promoted to the post of the head of the agriculture and food directorate and appointed deputy chairman of the Nesvizh District Executive Committee. In 2010-2018, Ivan Krupko worked as chairman of the Nesvizh District Executive Committee.
Prior to his appointment as agriculture and food minister, Ivan Krupko was chairman of the Minsk District Executive Committee.
