MINSK, 30 June (BelTA) - Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko appointed Andrei Kuznetsov Belarus’ Industry Minister on 30 June, BelTA has learned.
Until now, Andrei Kuznetsov served as Deputy Industry Minister.
Aleksandr Lukashenko also appointed Aleksandr Yefimov, who previously led the Industry Ministry, Head of the Amkodor holding company, one of the country’s most important enterprises.

“I would like to speak with you in private, so that you don't feel pressured by the superiors, who may be prepared to speak on your behalf. And so that you understand exactly what I expect from you. There have been a lot of discussions and suggestions regarding your appointment and the fact that you are open to them. Thank you for that.”
The president warned that expectations for the manufacturing industry will be extremely high: “Today, there are more challenges in the manufacturing industry than in any other sector. There are objective reasons for this (although I don’t want to call them objective: it is not a war time, so we need to get to work).”
The head of state noted that Aleksandr Yefimov had previously worked at Amkodor before being appointed Industry Minister.

“To some extent, the current situation at Amkodor is the same as when you worked there. This is my view, perhaps I am mistaken. But it is now your responsibility to fix it. No one will manage or direct you anymore. Amkodor is a state-owned enterprise, and being its director, you will make the decisions and bear responsibility for them. There will be no founding shareholders, supervisory boards, or other managers like it was in the past,” the head of state said addressing Aleksandr Yefimov. “You are a professional, a knowledgeable person. You know the team. You understand the situation far better than I do. So the ball is in your court: go and get the job done.”
