Lukashenko answers question about  legitimacy of Zelensky as President of Ukraine

MINSK, 18 August (BelTA) – During an interview with the Rossiya TV channel Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko answered the question about the legitimacy of Zelensky as President of Ukraine, BelTA has learned.

"You know, we can say that he is illegitimate. De jure," the head of state said. Russia considers the term of office of Vladimir Zelensky as expired, based on the Constitution of that country. "De jure, there are questions about his legitimacy," Aleksandr Lukashenko said.

At the same time, de facto Vladimir Zelensky makes decisions as head of state, and these decisions are implemented. "So he made a decision to carry out this crazy attack on Kursk, and the army is executing it. He makes other decisions (you know about them, I know about them) and they are being implemented," the Belarusian president said.

Concluding the conversation on the legitimacy of the Ukrainian authorities, Aleksandr Lukashenko said that from a legal point of view, there is "no one to talk to", but in fact, the people who governed the country continue to do so to this day justifying it by the ongoing war. They are the ones who really make decisions.
