ALEXANDRIA. 6 July (BelTA) – Centuries-old Belarusian traditions should become part of modern history, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said at the national festival Kupala Night (Alexandria Gathers Friends), BelTA has learned.
"The main thing that we have done was to revive the traditions of our ancestors. We are developing the centuries-old national culture. You will agree that it is not enough to know and remember these traditions. They should become part of modern history," Aleksandr Lukashenko believes.

"Our children should see how we take care of what has been created over the centuries. They should absorb the idea that everything that is made with your own hands - a basket, a clay jug, an embroidered towel - is always beautiful. It will always be relevant and fashionable. Folk music is a song of the Slavic heart. This is our song," the president said.
