MOSCOW, 18 February (BelTA) - Belarus and Russia are holding the Allied Resolve 2022 exercise on their territories and as transparently as possible. The two countries do not hide anything from anyone. Everything is taking place in front of a big number of attaches and reporters, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko told the media after he met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow on 18 February, BelTA has learned.
The Belarusian head of state noted that he had explained the essence of the exercise many times. With the military threat increasing on the borders of the Union State, with Ukraine being pumped with weapons, Belarus and Russia have to find the proper ways to resist a possible attack, including on their southern borders. “There is nothing surprising that we are attaching great attention to this section of the border, the south of Belarus. It is almost 1,500km. We are looking for the points of best defense,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.
According to the president, Russia and Belarus have a common air defense system, a single regional group of forces, joint training centers, and the Military Doctrine of the Union State. “We have never hidden these military activities from anyone. The ongoing exercise is our joint decision, conditioned by the current situation. We are holding the exercise completely transparently and on our territory. We do not hide anything from anyone. Everything is taking place in front of a big number of attaches and reporters,” the Belarusian leader said.
