Lukashenko accuses West of using sanctions to further eoonomic interests

DUSHANBE, 16 September (BelTA) – Under the banner of promoting human rights, the collective West is putting pressure on sovereign states by means of restrictions, asymmetrical actions and hybrid influence, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said at the session of the CSTO Collective Security Council in Dushanbe on 16 September, BelTA has learned.

“The collective West is putting pressure on sovereign states by means of restrictions, asymmetrical actions and hybrid influence. All this is happening under the banner of fighting for someone's rights. But we are fully aware that their true motive is to push for their economic and other interests,” Aleksandr Lukashenko noted.

Absolutely far-fetched pretexts are used to impose sanctions, the head of state emphasized. He recalled the emergency landing in Minsk of the Ryanair plane, after which European countries barred their airlines from flying over Belarus' airspace and closed their skies for the Belarusian national air carrier Belavia.
