MINSK, 21 October (BelTA) – A flourishing Libya will ensure peace and tranquility for half of the African continent, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he met with Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan National Army Saddam Khalifa Haftar on 21 October, BelTA has learned.
“I am very familiar with the situation in Libya. We are closely following what is happening there. I know that many forces, both internal and external (especially external) wanted to influence the situation. But I must say that the Libyan people will choose the path and the people who will feed, clothe, and ensure the security of the Libyan people,” the head of state said.
Aleksandr Lukashenko added: “I know that you are committed to bringing peace and tranquility to the Libyan people and uniting the Libyan state into a single whole. We are ready to work with you day and night to achieve this objective. We are receptive to any of your proposals. We will provide every assistance and support we can to the Libyan people.”
“We are also interested in this because a peaceful and advancing Libya is key to peace and tranquility for half of the African continent,” he concluded. “Rest assured, you have come to your friends.”
