Increasing prosperity described as EAEU’s main goal

MINSK, 26 June (BelTA) – The main goal of the EAEU development is to increase prosperity, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he addressed the plenary session of the Eurasian Economic Forum “Strategy of Eurasian Economic Integration: Results and Prospects” in Minsk on 26 June, BelTA has learned.
The head of state stressed that when solving certain practical tasks, it is necessary to remember that the main goal of the EAEU development is to increase prosperity of the Union.

“All our efforts are in the name of people. Therefore, our attention should be focused on creating new jobs, managed labor migration, affordable education and medical care, unlocking the potential of mutual tourism,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.

“We have all the tools that many countries are working to create now. The main task is to increase the efficiency of their use for the benefit of integration. In no case can we allow our union to turn into a forum of empty conversations. On the contrary, it should become as attractive as possible for new participants,” the president stressed. “The number of countries represented at the forum shows great interest in our union. Let us make the most of this moment.”

The head of state noted that representatives of about 30 countries are present at the EAEU events in Minsk, including such geographically distant countries as Nicaragua, Myanmar, the United Arab Emirates and many others. “Those who are willing to cooperate with us. We, the core of the EAEU, who are present in Minsk today, must offer them something,” the Belarusian leader said.

Aleksandr Lukashenko reiterated that 18 provisions in the EAEU development strategy until 2025 remain unrealized. “We will try to talk about this tomorrow [at the summit] if the heads of state agree. Frankly speaking, we do not have much desire to delve into these complex issues in general. But we must make ourselves sort things out. Time demands that of us. If we stand still, as I often say, if we move slowly, we will be overtaken by others. Frankly speaking, this is happening in many areas,” the president said.
