Guinea-Bissau president to meet with Lukashenko

MINSK, 7 May (BelTA) - President of Guinea-Bissau Umaro Sissoco Embaló has arrived at the Palace of Independence for a meeting with Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko, BelTA has learned.

The Belarusian leader welcomed Umaro Sissoco Embaló in the Ceremonial Hall. The negotiations between the presidents will focus on enhancing bilateral cooperation and strengthening partnerships. Special attention will be given to mutually beneficial projects in key sectors of the economy.

Umaro Sissoco Embaló’s working visit to Belarus began the day before, on 6 May. He is set to tour several enterprises to explore Belarus’ capabilities across various industries.

The visit's agenda was discussed between the two leaders during a phone call in March of this year. The presidents touched upon pressing issues of bilateral cooperation. "The parties had a thorough discussion of the whole range of bilateral relations and the promising areas of cooperation. Aleksandr Lukashenko and Umaro Sissoco Embaló also discussed the details of the planned official visit of the leader of Guinea-Bissau to Belarus," the press service of the Belarusian president noted.
