Guidelines for Belarusian government agencies to adopt cloud computing specified

MINSK, 16 December (BelTA) – The concept for switching government agencies and organizations to using cloud computing technologies has been specified by Belarus president decree No.461 signed on 16 December, BelTA has learned.

The document provides for amending the presidential decree on how government agencies and other state-run organizations should use telecommunications technologies. The concept for the transition of government agencies and organizations to cloud computing technologies has been specified taking into account positive international experience and the practice of interaction of the Belarusian telecommunications infrastructure operator beCloud with government agencies and organizations, in particular, the hosting of their computer systems in the national data storage and processing center.

The national data center is Belarus' first facility of the kind that is certified for compliance with international standards. The fact confirms its high degree of reliability and security.

The implementation of the presidential decree signed on 16 December will improve the performance of government agencies and organizations by providing them with reliable information and telecommunications infrastructure. It will also improve cybersecurity standards in government information systems, ensure the protection of personal data of citizens of Belarus, and make budget spending on information and telecommunications services more effective.
