Government agencies urged to live up to growing demands of Belarusians

MINSK, 10 June (BelTA) – Needs and demands of Belarusians grow and the government has to live up to them. Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko made the statement during the national seminar-conference held on 10 June to discuss new methods and forms of public communication at the grassroots level, BelTA has learned.

Aleksandr Lukashenko noted that events like today's seminar are not organized for the sake of gloating over accomplishments.

The president said: “The seminars are kind of an intermediate evaluation of the accomplishment of the tasks, of which the general political course of development of the state is made. The key goals of our conference today are to analyze new challenges, identify the issues that need to be addressed, share the best practices, and jointly work out adequate solutions.”

Aleksandr Lukashenko went on saying: “Let's begin with the key factor that affects our life and the life of the state as a whole. Belarusians have changed a lot in the last 25 years. We aspire towards bigger and better while relying on the prosperity foundation we've created. It is the right thing to do. It is what development is all about. The legal awareness of citizens is rising, they become more demanding, including with regard to the state, and expect new quality of feedback. Demands of the population are on the rise and the authorities have to live up to them. We have to. We are a socially oriented state.”

At the same time he stressed that citizens should also be more responsible and should make their own contribution to the development of the state.
