MINSK, 29 May (BelTA) - The finalized draft decree on ways of improving the efficiency of control and oversight activities has been resubmitted to Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko. The document was reviewed at a meeting with the Council of Ministers on 29 May, BelTA has learned.
The prosecutor general was expected to report on the finalization of the draft decree. Aleksandr Lukashenko inquired whether there are fundamental aspects within the document that required further discussion.
This issue had been previously discussed at a meeting hosted by the Belarusian president on 28 March. During that meeting, a draft decree on ways of improving the efficiency of control and oversight activities, revised taking into account the comments and suggestions made at the meeting last May, had been submitted to the president. Aleksandr Lukashenko sent back the draft decree for finalization again to ensure the document is clear and convenient for use. The head of state also asked the supervisory bodies to change their style and methods of work and enhance the efficiency of their activities. The relevant state bodies were tasked with finding a compromise, revising approaches and producing a document of proper quality.

Decree No. 510, adopted in 2009 "On Improving Control (Oversight) Activities in Belarus," has become outdated. This area, in general, requires adjustments, not only technical ones.
"We are focusing more on prevention and proactive measures. The head of state instructed us to maintain balance: if anyone violates the rules, they will undoubtedly be held accountable without exceptions; once you work properly, we will have no issues with you and we will not inspect you often," Chairman of the State Control Committee of Belarus Vasily Gerasimov explained.
