EEU hailed as new powerful economic center

MINSK, 10 October (BelTA) - A new powerful economic center has appeared on the map of the world - the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU), Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said during the session of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council at the level of heads of state on 10 October, BelTA has learned.

“Today we are holding our session in the context when the Eurasian Economic Union has occupied de facto its niche in the world economy and even political agenda. We are completing de jure the creation of the largest market in the Eurasian space,” the Belarusian leader said.

Alexander Lukashenko noted that Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Russia have informed the international community about the almost simultaneous ratification of the EEU Treaty by the parliaments. The EEU Treaty comes into effect on 1 January 2015.
