Committee set up to organize Belarusian People’s Congress’s upcoming session

MINSK, 2 February (BelTA) – Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko signed an executive order on 2 February to set up a republican organizing committee in charge of preparing for and holding the first session of the 7th Belarusian People’s Congress, the president’s press service told BelTA.

The organizing committee includes a number of top-ranking government officials, top officials of ministries, the oblast governors and the Minsk mayor, representatives of other government agencies. The committee is headed by Prime Minister of Belarus Roman Golovchenko.

In addition to organizational matters the committee has also been tasked with ensuring broad coverage of the ongoing work and with informing the general public about delegates of the Belarusian People’s Congress via mass media.
