KAZAN, 23 October (BelTA) – The themes of Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko’s interview to BBC journalist Steven Rosenberg have been disclosed. The interview took place on the sidelines of the BRICS summit in Kazan, BelTA has learned.
The Pul Pervogo Telegram channel revealed the topics raised during the interview. They included Belarus' interest in BRICS, the special military operation, the possibility of peace talks between Russia and Ukraine, as well as nuclear deterrence.
“Fake reports about North Korea's involvement in the special military operation; the talks with representatives of the West that the president mentioned last Saturday. Details are coming!” the Telegram channel reports.
The interview also discussed the possibility of re-engagement with the West and the release of so-called political prisoners.
The upcoming presidential election in Belarus was not left out either. The date of the election has already been announced. The interview discussed whether they will be ‘free and democratic’ [the way BBC understands it].
The details of the interview are expected to be released in the evening of 23 October.
