Belarusians urged to stay alert

MINSK, 21 January (BelTA) – During his talk with MAZ workers on 21 January, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko urged citizens stay alert and report any extraordinary things, BelTA has learned.

“We must build our lives without war. This is the highest priority. Our country should be safe. Therefore, defense and security are the number one issue. Who needs a country where a mother and a father are afraid to let their child out on the street,” the Belarusian leader said.

He recalled the fierce fight against crime in the 1990s. “I had to protect the people who elected me President. Today the situation is different. Today we act calmly. Today we see threats on the border. That is why our focus is there,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.

At the same time, he pointed out that it is very difficult to fully ensure security in the country only by the special services, without the participation of citizens. “If you see something unusual, something wrong, inform us, we will check this out,” the Belarusian leader urged.

In his words, there are still “armed gangs” outside the country near the borders, which are on the radar of the special services. “We are tracking them. They haven't refused the idea to seize a piece of land here and impose conditions on us. This cannot be allowed to happen. If something goes wrong, tell us. Tell the police, someone else, give a hint. We have a mobile state. You must preserve peace and security, too. This is the main thing for us today. This includes information security and other issues. We will try to work in this respect, but with your help,” the head of state added.
