MINSK, 26 January (BelTA) – Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko has signed decree No.33, which provides for extending till 31 December 2024 the time period, during which Belarus citizens staying abroad can submit petitions regarding the crimes and offences they have committed to the commission in charge of dealing with such petitions, BelTA has learned.

Belarus citizens, who committed administrative offences or crimes in connection with political events of public importance from 1 January 2020 till 8 February 2023 (the date when the decree to set up the commission came into force) and who are willing to return to the motherland, can submit their petitions to this commission. Those, who suspect they may be implicated in such offences and crimes, are also free to petition the commission.

The commission looks into petitions and tells citizens whether they are implicated in an administrative investigation or a criminal one or not and how the investigation can be terminated on terms specified by the legislation.
