MINSK, 4 March (BelTA) – Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko updated tasks for the country’s wood processing industry as he made new appointments on 4 March, BelTA has learned.
Chairman of the Belarusian timber, woodworking, pulp and paper industry concern Bellesbumprom Aleksandr Pshenny attended the meeting with the industrial team of the government led by Deputy Prime Minister Viktor Karankevich.

“We have everything necessary here, so you need to act. We have talked a lot about woodworking, including furniture production, added-value wood processing. We have a lot of windfalls in the forest. We have agreed to produce pellets. Pellets mean fuel. Unfortunately, we neglect it because we have cheap natural gas, and we think we do not need firewood and other things. I don't know what is the current situation with pellets, but this is your most important problem. We built seven or eight factories last year to process these windfalls which are plenty in the forest, and make the most beautiful goods. Look for markets other than Europe. Europe will also need them, there is no doubt,” the head of state said.

“Paper, furniture, cardboard, packaging, wallpaper are final products that we know how to make. Wood processing is the basis. This is however a final product, which means high added value. We should pay attention to it,” Aleksandr Lukashenko added.
