Belarusian doctors to be honored for saving two boys with severe burns

MINSK, 11 August (BelTA) – The doctors who saved the lives of Roman and Vadim, the two boys who sustained severe burns, will receive state awards. The head of state is keeping an eye on the progress in the treatment of the children, BelTA learned from the Telegram channel Pul Pervogo.

“This post is about the heroes of our time. Do you remember the cases of two boys who suffered severe burns one after another a few months back? Vadim's fishing rod caught on the electric wire. Roman was seriously injured when rescuing his little brother from the burning house,” the authors of the post give the backstory.

The boys received support from all over the country, and the president was keeping an eye on their health status. The condition of Roman was so bad that proposals were made to transfer him to a Russian hospital. But the president made a decision that the boys should be treated in Belarus.

"Our doctors did a great job! After the treatment in Minsk Vadim was transferred to a Mogilev hospital for rehabilitation (the burns affected 70% of the kid's body!). And yesterday he was checked out of hospital. Roman's condition was stabilized. He has already endured 22 surgeries. The best Belarusian doctors have been fighting for his life. He has been transferred from intensive care to a children's burn unit," the Telegram channel informs.

"The Belarusian president instructed to honor the heroes! All the doctors who have been involved will receive state awards. Roman Kogodovsky who rescued his two-year-old brother from the fire will be awarded too," the post reads.
