KAZAN, 23 October (BelTA) - The commission headed by the prosecutor general will deal with the issues related to the pardoning of those convicted of extremist crimes, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said in an interview with BBC journalist Steven Rosenberg on the margins of the BRICS summit in Russia’s Kazan on 23 October, BelTA has learned.
Aleksandr Lukashenko said that a few days ago the commission headed by Prosecutor General Andrei Shved was tasked to team up with the correctional authorities to study the cases of citizens convicted of extremist crimes.
“I am in favor of letting the people who have realized and understood everything and do not violate the order there and behave well (there is no need to chant praises here) go. I believe we need to consider these questions [about pardoning]. There is nothing about the West here, remember this. You have no importance for me in terms of releasing my people,” the president said.
