Belarusian Belkoopsoyuz urged to focus more on catering brands

MINSK, 16 February (BelTA) - Consumer cooperatives need to develop their own catering brands, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said at the general meeting of the Belarusian national union of consumer societies Belkoopsoyuz in Minsk on 16 February, BelTA has learned.

Today, Belkoopsoyuz operates more than a thousand catering facilities in all corners of the country. 

"You showcase your amazing culinary masterpieces at exhibitions, fairs, and various events. But you need to provide the same level of service in your daily work. People, especially young people, frequent various cafes, fast food chains. They taste, choose and compare. How can you interest them? You have a lot of things to do this. What do we have in reality? Of course, people will always have a soft spot for the traditional dishes of past years. But the younger generation is more demanding. It is necessary to repurpose the existing facilities, to open conceptually new ones," Aleksandr Lukashenko is convinced.

He believes that consumer cooperatives need to develop their own catering brands. 

"Make a focus on delivery, lunch menus, catering for off-site events. Invest more in roadside service. This business has recently taken a back seat. I would like to emphasize that the catering industry today is a reserve for increasing retail. This year Belkoopsoyuz must invest in it as much as possible. Develop a unified marketing concept so that a person who sees your sign knows for sure that it will be homemade, organic and tasty," the president urged.
