Belarus President Property Management Directorate head's resignation accepted

MINSK, 11 June (BelTA) – Viktor Sheiman's resignation as the head of the Belarus President Property Management Directorate was discussed as Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko received Viktor Sheiman's report with the relevant request in the Palace of Independence, BelTA has learned.

Aleksandr Lukashenko told Viktor Sheiman: “You've wanted to resign many times. I disagreed with it. But I understand that time has come when you've had enough in your life. Honestly speaking, I am grateful to you for everything that has been done. We will find time to meet so that I could once again thank you.”

Aleksandr Lukashenko remarked that Viktor Sheiman has considerable life experience and had gone through a lengthy career from a young lieutenant, who had gone through the Afghanistan war, to a colonel-general. It is the highest military rank in Belarus and today Viktor Sheiman is the only person entitled to wearing the relevant shoulder straps while serving the state.

Aleksandr Lukashenko went on saying: “I understand that there is your family, kids, and many other issues. This is why I agree with your new page in life, in a manner of speaking. But I would very much like to ask you not to go too far (and not to stay away from the state at all) and lend a shoulder where it is necessary. Just the way you've always done. For now I'd love you to take care of Cuba, Venezuela, and those affairs in Africa that you have yet to hand over to the government. I'd like you to keep taking care of these affairs until I decide who will take care of them. And once more I tell you: don't go too far. You can see the situation around Belarus. God forbid if you and I have to take up arms to protect the country. The situation is complicated.”

Aleksandr Lukashenko accepted Viktor Sheiman's resignation. He will no longer be the head of the Belarus President Property Management Directorate once the head of state signs the relevant decree.
