MINSK, 30 December (BelTA) – Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko has made new appointments in Air Force and Air Defense Command of the Armed Forces. The head of state signed the relevant decrees on 29 December, BelTA learned from the Belarusian leader's press service.
Major General Sergei Trus has been relieved of his position as Chief of the General Staff - First Deputy Commander of the Air Force and Air Defense Command and transferred from regular military service to the retired reserve with a right to wear military uniform and rank insignia..
He is replaced by Major General Andrei Gurtsevich, who was accordingly dismissed from the post of deputy commander of the Air Force and Air Defense Command. The head of state appointed Colonel Dmitry Mikholap to this position.
