MINSK, 15 March (BelTA) - Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko has congratulated Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill on the 45th anniversary of consecration, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.
The head of state remarked that for many centuries the Eastern Orthodox Church has been a moral compass for millions of believers, a uniting force and inspiration to create.
“You have become a wise teacher and pastor of this church whose words and deeds are an example of deep spirituality and selfless service to people. Your many-year participation in the resolution of the most difficult modern issues helps find ways to respectful dialogue and constructive cooperation, helps ensure social wellbeing and stability,” the message of greetings reads.
Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed that Belarus acknowledges and appreciates the contribution of Patriarch Kirill to the preservation of peace, the enhancement of spiritual ties and brotherly friendship between the two nations. The president wished him strong health, unflagging energy, long and productive life. He expressed hope that the Patriarch Kirill's prayers will continue instilling faith, hope, love and wisdom in the hearts and souls of Orthodox believers across the globe.
