Zas, Tokayev discuss situation in CSTO responsibility area

MOSCOW, 10 October (BelTA) – Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met with Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Stanislav Zas in Astana on 10 October. Stanislav Zas is in Kazakhstan on a business trip, CSTO Press Secretary Vladimir Zainetdinov told BelTA.

According to the source, Stanislav Zas informed Kassym-Jomart Tokayev about preparations for forthcoming sessions of the Collective Security Treaty Organization's charter bodies and a session of the Collective Security Council. These sessions are scheduled to take place in Armenia in November. Stanislav Zas informed the Kazakh head of state about progress in fulfilling a number of instructions of the CSTO Collective Security Council.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Stanislav Zas talked at length about the situation in the CSTO's responsibility area. Close attention was paid to the situation in the Central Asia region.

The Kazakhstan president awarded an Order of Friendship, second class to the CSTO secretary general in recognition of the latter's efforts to build up peace, friendship, and cooperation between nations.
