MINSK, 24 February (BelTA) - During a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin Chinese President Xi Jinping reaffirmed China's readiness to assist with a peaceful settlement of the conflict in Ukraine, TASS reports with reference to the Kremlin press service.
"[President] Vladimir Putin updated the Chinese president on the latest Russian-American discussions," the Kremlin said in a statement. "The Chinese side expressed support for the dialogue between Russia and the U.S. and said it is prepared to assist with peaceful resolution of the conflict," the statement reads.
Xi Jinping also said that China was pleased to see the positive efforts made by Russia and all parties concerned to defuse the crisis in Ukraine.
During the conversation, the leaders, among other things, exchanged views on topical issues of further development of Russia-China comprehensive partnership and strategic cooperation and stressed that Russia-China relations play a stabilizing role in world affairs and are not directed against others.
