MINSK, 20 January (BelTA) - The parties to the conflict in Ukraine are genuinely interested in dialogue and may come to an agreement on some issues, Ukrainian journalist Diana Panchenko said in a new episode of the V Teme [On Point] project on BelTA’s YouTube channel.
“If we talk about the main participants in the conflict, this is certainly not a war between Russia and Ukraine. It is a war between the West and Russia. I tend to think that Trump and Putin can indeed reach agreements on a number of issues. According to my sources, a meeting is being arranged between Trump and Putin. We are yet to see whether it will take place. Because we live in a fast-changing world and everything can change at the last moment.
The Ukrainian journalist said that the parties are really interested in dialogue. “In my opinion, the parties can come to an agreement on some issues, not all however. There are too many fault lines today,” she emphasized.
According to Diana Panchenko, the Donald Trump administration has already prepared sanctions against such persons as Andrei Yermak, the Head of Vladimir Zelensky's office, Ukrainian PM Denis Shmygal, Ukrainian Defense Minister RustemUmerov and other figures of the Kiev regime. “This does not mean that these sanctions will definitely be enacted. They will be used however as a stick to motivate these people,” the Ukrainian journalist stressed.
