Ways of intensifying Belarusian-Omani cooperation discussed in Muscat 

MINSK, 14 December (BelTA) - Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Maksim Ryzhenkov and Omani Foreign Minister Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi held talks in Muscat on 14 December, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. 

The foreign ministers discussed topical issues on the bilateral and international agenda, priority areas of Belarusian-Omani cooperation in the near term in the political, trade, economic and humanitarian areas. 

The Belarusian minister thanked the Omani side for the intensive joint efforts to organize the visit of the Belarusian president to the Sultanate of Oman. It was noted that the visit of the Belarusian head of state was preceded by a number of important preparatory measures. In particular, these included visits to Muscat by the Belarusian prime minister, a delegation headed by the minister of antimonopoly regulation and trade, and political consultations at the level of deputy foreign ministers in 2024.

A representative delegation of Belarusian food industry enterprises headed by the deputy agriculture and food minister took part in Oman AgroFood 2024 exhibition.

The parties agreed on the need to establish an intergovernmental commission for trade and economic cooperation as soon as possible and discussed the appointment of its co-chairmen. 

Much attention was paid to the ways of invigorating the communication between the business communities of the two countries and tourist exchanges.

In order to maintain high dynamics of bilateral contacts and to compare noted in a timely manner on topical issues of cooperation, Maksim Ryzhenkov invited his Omani counterpart to pay a visit to the Republic of Belarus in 2025. The invitation was gratefully accepted.

On the same day, as part of the preparations for the Belarusian head of state's visit to Oman, the Belarusian foreign minister had meetings with Oman’s Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources Saud bin Hammoud bin Ahmed Al Habsi and Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion Qais Mohammed Al Yousef. The parties discussed concrete steps to develop bilateral relations in food security, industry, tourism and education.

On 14 December, the minister also met with Sheikh Faisal bin Abdullah Al-Rawas, Chairman of the Board at Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The Omani side confirmed its readiness to start practical activities of the Belarusian-Omani Business Committee.

The parties stated their mutual interest in expanding the practice of exchanging  business visits and participation in exhibitions in Belarus and Oman.
