Confidence in Belarus' unshakeable sovereignty amid complicated geopolitical situation

MINSK, 18 November (BelTA) - Belarus manages to defend its sovereignty in a difficult geopolitical situation, State Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus Aleksandr Volfovich said in his welcoming address to the participants of the second international conference “Key areas of improving the national security system” on 18 November, BelTA has learned.

The conference, organized jointly with the State Secretariat of the Security Council of the Republic of Belarus, took place at the Institute for Advanced Training and Retraining of the Investigative Committee of Belarus.

“Since the first such conference in November 2021, the situation in the world and around our country has changed dramatically. Despite the attempts of the collective West to maintain its global dominance, there is a steady trend towards the formation of a new multipolar world order,” State Secretary of the Security Council Aleksandr Volfovich said in his welcoming speech to the conference participants.

Aleksandr Volfovich stressed that under the current circumstances Belarus found itself in the area of collision of geopolitical interests of the world centers of power. It is in this extremely difficult situation that we now have to protect and defend our national interests, ensuring the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of the state.

The emergence of new risks, challenges and threats to the sustainable development and security of Belarus has determined the relevance of organizing the conference “Key areas of improving the national security system”.

“Effective counteraction to emerging threats is impossible without progressive improvement of the security system, including its foundations, enshrined in the draft National Security Concept. These and other factors dictate the necessity of their substantive discussion as part of this forum,” Aleksandr Volfovich stressed.
