Union State MPs to discuss new programs in agriculture in Minsk

MOSCOW, 20 October (BelTA) – New Union State programs and activities in agriculture and agricultural industry will be discussed at a meeting of the Commission on Agriculture of the Union State Parliamentary Assembly in Minsk on 27 October, BelTA learned from the press service of the Parliamentary Assembly.

“The MPs will discuss development of new programs and activities of the Union State, namely “Development of a strategy and mechanisms for ensuring the Union State food security amidst external challenges and threats”, “Development of smart technologies and robotics for industrial horticulture”, “Development of digital technologies and automated machines and equipment for dairy farming”,“Development of a methodology to evaluate new breeds, types, lines and crosses of farm animals for distinctness, uniformity, stability and resistance to diseases”, “System of genomic breeding of farm animals of the Union State of Belarus and Russia”,” the press service informed.

There are plans to discuss progress to develop a uniform agrarian policy and to integrate information systems of veterinary and phytosanitary control authorities of Belarus and Russia.

Representatives of the Standing Committee of the Union State, ministries and government agencies of Belarus and Russia were invited to participate in the event.
