MINSK, 26 October (BelTA) - The suffering endured by the Belarusian people during the Great Patriotic War is impossible to forget, Selman Eser, Head of the Türkiye -Belarus Friendship Inter-Parliamentary Group of the Grand National Assembly of the Turkish Republic, told the media after the Turkish parliamentary delegation visited the Belarusian State Museum of the History of the Great Patriotic War, BelTA has learned.
“The museum itself and how the story of the Great Patriotic War was told deeply moved us. The sorrows and suffering endured by the Belarusian people were indeed so immense that they are impossible to forget," Selman Eser said. He emphasized that the Turkish parliamentarians will never forget the heroism of the defenders of the Brest Fortress.
“We will work together with you as a friendly country to prevent any possibility of such a tragedy recurring,” he said.
Selman Eser thanked the Belarusian parliamentarians for their longstanding friendship.
Sergei Rachkov, Chairman of the Standing Commission on International Affairs of the House of Representatives, head of the National Assembly of Belarus' working group on cooperation with the parliament of the Republic of Türkiye, emphasized that the Museum of the History of the Great Patriotic War is a sacred place for Belarusians. In Belarus, the memory of ancestors is honored, especially that connected with the heroic and victorious pages of history. He expressed confidence that parliamentarians need to work more closely and rally together to prevent a recurrence of the tragedy that occurred between 1941 and 1945.

A Turkish parliamentary delegation led by Selman Eser, the head of the Türkiye-Belarus friendship group in the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, will be on a visit to Belarus on 25-30 October 2025. The delegation arrived at the invitation of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus.
The parties are expected to discuss a wide range of issues concerning inter-parliamentary cooperation, collaboration in trade, economic, investment, and cultural-humanitarian matters, exchange experience in legislative activities, and share opinions on a number of pressing international problems.
Head of the Türkiye-Belarus parliamentary friendship group in the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye Selman Eser will also participate in the 3rd Minsk International Conference on Eurasian Security.
The working group on cooperation with the Turkish Parliament in the National Assembly of Belarus of the eighth convocation was established in May 2024. The mission of the working group is to promote Belarusian-Turkish relations.
