MINSK, 18 August (BelTA) – At the upcoming Washington meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and Vladimir Zelensky on 18 August, the issue of territorial exchanges between Russia and Ukraine will be discussed, TASS reports citing U.S. President’s Special Envoy Steve Witkoff.
During an interview with CNN, Steve Witkoff said the territorial swap is “the main issue” for resolving the ongoing conflict. “We intend to discuss it on Monday. Hopefully, we have some clarity on it, and hopefully that ends up in a peace deal very, very soon,” the special envoy said.
He also commented on the possibility of a trilateral meeting between Vladimir Putin, Donald Trump, and Vladimir Zelensky: “My view is that we are going to get to a trilateral. And so I am hopeful that we have a productive meeting on Monday with Vladimir Zelensky, we get to real consensus, we are able to come back to the Russians and push this peace deal forward and get it done.”
