
MINSK, 19 August (BelTA) - U.S. President Donald Trump has expressed hope for a meeting between Russian leader Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky to take place before the end of August, RIA Novosti informs, citing Axios journalist Barak Ravid.
Barak Ravid reported that a well-informed source familiar with the situation stated there was optimism about arranging a Putin-Zelensky meeting by late August. The journalist shared this on X while commenting on Trump’s announcement regarding preparations for talks between the Russian president and Zelensky.
Earlier, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that he had begun preparations for a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Vladimir Zelensky, which would be followed by trilateral negotiations. He also noted that U.S. Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and U.S. leader’s special envoy Steve Witkoff would coordinate initiatives aimed at resolving tensions between Russia and Ukraine.
