
DUSHANBE, 5 June (BelTA) – Tajikistan President Emomali Rahmon has met with the CIS heads of government, who arrived in Dushanbe for the CIS Heads of Government Council, BelTA has learned.

“Within its presidency in the CIS, Tajikistan is working to ensure further development of multilateral cooperation between all CIS member states. The measures we are taking in this direction are based primarily on the principles of friendship, mutual respect and trust, mutually beneficial cooperation, and consideration of the interests of all parties. We are ready to continue to promote further expansion of cooperation in all areas, ensure sustainable social and economic development, and strengthen stability and security throughout the CIS,” Emomali Rahmon said.


The CIS Heads of Government Council will be held in Dushanbe, first in a narrow format and then with the participation of delegations. Plans are in place to discuss issues related to various areas of activity. Special attention will be on economic cooperation. The agenda will include issues of cooperation in heavy machinery, light industry, and harmonization of national air traffic systems. The heads of government will consider a number of issues related to humanitarian activities, including the organization of the CIS Volunteers Forum. Plans are also in place to establish a badge “For the Development of Tourism in the CIS”.

The meeting participants are set to sign a number of documents in the areas of healthcare, interregional and cross-border cooperation, a joint communications system for the armed forces, and a unified system for monitoring and assessing the radiation, chemical, and biological situation by the defense ministries of the CIS countries. Some of the documents planned for signing concern issues related to the CIS Economic Court. The new version of the regulations on the CIS Heads of State and Public Television and Radio Organizations Council will also be considered.
