SMORGON DISTRICT, 5 April (BelTA) – Successful social and economic development of the country is an important factor for ensuring national security. State Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus Aleksandr Volfovich made the statement as he visited Smorgon District, Grodno Oblast on 5 April, BelTA has learned.
Aleksandr Volfovich is the head of state's authorized representative for Grodno Oblast. He met with representatives of municipal authorities, discussed public, political, social, and economic situation in the region, was made familiar with progress of the sowing campaign, and answered questions sincerely and thoroughly. While talking to the state secretary, many people were worried about the Ukrainian crisis and prospects of settlement of the conflict. “We cannot watch indifferently what is going on in the neighboring country. Belarus puts every effort into establishing peace and stability in Ukraine,” the official stated.
Aleksandr Volfovich also pointed out the importance of ensuring Belarus' social and economic development amid the tough pressure of sanctions. As he heard out reports on progress of the sowing campaign from heads of municipal government agencies, the state secretary of the Security Council stressed that its successful organization will be a guarantee of Belarus' food security.
Aleksandr Volfovich was also made familiar with the routine operation of the Smorgon branch of the Belarusian border service. Close attention was paid to the organization of combat training of the mobile team, comprehensive support for the unit's operation, and the work of the canine training center. Over 500 dog handlers were trained there in 2021 alone.
As he visited an educational facility of the Border Service Institute, Aleksandr Volfovich was made familiar with the physical infrastructure and the education process. He mentioned the high combat readiness of the border service division and praised the reliable protection of the Belarusian-Lithuanian border. He spoke in positive terms about the practical direction of the training of future border service officers.
