MINSK, 20 September (BelTA) – Belarus is interested in expanding cooperation with China in all areas, primarily in the economy, First Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Nikolai Snopkov said as he met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China to Belarus Zhang Wenchuan, BelTA has learned.
Nikolai Snopkov congratulated Zhang Wenchuan on his appointment as Chinese ambassador. "I am convinced that your work in Belarus will become another springboard for your career and will benefit our countries. We have every opportunity to keep deepening cooperation between Belarus and China in all areas. I am confident that we will be able to build on the already unprecedentedly high level of cooperation," he said.
Despite the political tension in the world, Belarus and China have managed to upgrade their relations to an all-weather and comprehensive strategic partnership, the first deputy prime minister emphasized. "Belarus-China relations are based on mutual respect for history, shared attitude to culture, ideology, equality, interest in a common future that underpins the concept of the Belt and Road Initiative. Bilateral contacts are based on the friendship of the leaders of our states. This is an example of strong, unbreakable friendship, mutual understanding and support in all sensitive issues on the foreign and domestic agenda. For decades, we have been strategic partners and iron-clad brothers. The key to the success of our cooperation is a shared approach to important aspects of the political and socio-economic development strategy of our states," Nikolai Snopkov noted.
"I am convinced that you and I will be able to write a new chapter of Belarus-China cooperation by expanding it in all areas, first of all in economy. As the president of Belarus has repeatedly said, our task is to make economic cooperation just as advanced as political relations. The task is difficult, but I am sure that we will be able to handle it," the first deputy prime minister said.
Zhang Wenchuan, in turn, remarked that China-Belarus relations are making very good progress. "You rightly noted that thanks to the approaches of our leaders, relations between Belarus and China are at their peak. At the July meeting, our leaders outlined new contours of cooperation. In August, Premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China Li Qiang visited Belarus. Prospects for Belarus-China relations look very promising. China pays great attention to relations with Belarus. As the ambassador of China, I am ready to closely cooperate with all government bodies of Belarus and do everything in my power to strengthen bilateral relations, friendship and cooperation. I hope for your assistance and support," he said.
