
MINSK, 24 June (BelTA) – The UN is the most universal international organization in the history of mankind, for which there is currently no viable alternative, Belarus' Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Yevgeny Shestakov said at an event in Minsk to mark the 80th anniversary of the UN Charter, BelTA has learned.
“This year marks of the 80th anniversary of the United Nations. The year is rich in significant events,” he said. “On 26 June, the international community will mark the most important date in the history of the UN when the United Nations Charter was signed in San Francisco. On this day 80 years ago 50 states laid the legal and moral foundation for a new system of international relations based on cooperation, equality and collective responsibility for the future of humanity.”

The conclusion of the San Francisco Conference on 26 June 1945 was one of the key events of the 20th century, Yevgeny Shestakov said.
“After more than two months of intense negotiations, the conference signed a unique document that laid the foundation for the existence of the most universally accepted international organization for which there is currently no viable alternative,” Yevgeny Shestakov noted.
“This year marks of the 80th anniversary of the United Nations.
