MINSK, 28 May (BelTA) - Belarusian-Chinese relations show a great momentum, Shen Yiqin, President of the All-China Women's Federation, member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China of the 20th convocation, member of the Party Group of the State Council, said during a meeting with Chairwoman of the Council of the Republic Natalya Kochanova in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on 28 May, BelTA has learned.
"China and Belarus are all-weather strategic partners. Our countries have always supported each other in matters related to vital interests, based on the principles of mutual respect and equality," Shen Yiqin said.
According to her, the Belarusian-Chinese relations show a great momentum. "Political cooperation between our countries is constantly growing stronger. There are tangible practical results of cooperation," Shen Yiqin emphasized. "China is ready, together with the Belarusian side, to faithfully implement the important agreements reached by our leaders, expand the scope of our cooperation, continue to strengthen humanitarian exchanges in such areas as education, science and technology, culture, tourism, the women's agenda and youth policy in order to promote mutual understanding and friendship between our peoples."
Founded in March 1949, the All-China Women's Federation is China’s largest women’s public association. Chinese women are an important force in building China-style socialism. At the initial stage of socialism, the women's federation is to unite and educate women, implement the party policy.
The initiative to develop women's cooperation between Belarus and China was voiced by Natalya Kochanova at the meeting with Li Zhanshu, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of the People's Republic of China, in June 2021. The proposal was supported in China. A seminar of women parliamentarians was held on 29 April 2022. It was headed by Chairperson of the Council of the Republic Natalya Kochanova and Shen Yueyue, Vice-Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of the People's Republic of China, former President of the All-China Women's Federation. During the seminar, the parties signed a memorandum of cooperation between the Belarusian Women's Union and the All-China Women's Federation, marking a new stage of cooperation between women's movements.
