MINSK, 16 October (BelTA) - German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said he was ready to discuss the peaceful settlement of the situation in Ukraine with Russian President Vladimir Putin as he spoke in the German Parliament, TASS reports.
Speaking in the Bundestag, the chancellor advocated holding a peace conference on Ukraine with Russia’s participation. The speech was streamed on Bundestag’s YouTube channel.
"In this regard, I think we’re right when we say that we will talk to the Russian president," Olaf Scholz emphasized.
At the same time, he pointed out that there are clear principles in peace efforts, in particular that all possible decisions cannot be made "behind Ukraine's back and without coordination with partners."
