Savinykh: Security of one country should not be gained at the expense of others

MINSK, 30 November (BelTA) - Members of the House of Representatives are taking part in the web-based roundtable discussion "The 30th Anniversary of the Charter of Paris: A Parliamentary Perspective" organized by the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly in the format of a video conferencing, BelTA has learned.

"Today's meeting is dedicated to the Paris security charter," said Andrei Savinykh, the Chairman of the Standing Commission on International Affairs of the House of Representatives. "Parliaments want to discuss how the concept of security on the European continent is changing, how global threats are changing, the structure of the new challenges facing governments, and how we can ensure a climate that will contribute to the security of all countries without exception."

According to the MP, special attention will be paid to ways to ensure security for all. "Security of one country should not override that of others. This is a complex and very sensitive issue, especially given the completely new types of terrorist threats," he said.

Andrei Savinykh expressed the hope for a fruitful discussion during the roundtable. "I am going to take a very active part in the discussion," he added.
