Sardar Ayaz Sadiq: Pakistan intends to deepen ties with Belarus

MINSK, 20 August (BelTA) – The Parliament of Pakistan intends to increase interaction with Belarus, Speaker of the National Assembly of the Parliament of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Sardar Ayaz Sadiq said during a meeting with Speaker of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus Igor Sergeyenko, BelTA learned.
"Thank you for the invitation. I wish we could have paid a visit earlier. However, I believe that this is a good start for our new Parliament. We thank you for your hospitality. This year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. This is quite a short period within the life of a country. Perhaps, if we had acted more decisively, we could have achieved much more," Sardar Ayaz Sadiq said. "Our Parliament has been in session for several months, and I hope that we will start to increase our interaction with Belarus.”
The speaker pointed out the need to expand the legal framework of cooperation between the two countries. "We will discuss various aspects of these agreements. If we consider that an agreement needs to be revised and rewritten, we will do it and sign new, more effective agreements," he said.
"You mentioned that we have supported Belarus in its bid to join the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). Undoubtedly, we will continue supporting Belarus. You have also expressed a desire to join various organizations, including those where Pakistan's Parliament is represented. We believe that we can help you in this regard," Sardar Ayaz Sadiq emphasized.

A parliamentary delegation of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan is on official visit in Belarus at the invitation of the House of Representatives.
