Ryzhenkov: U.S. hegemony cannot last forever

MINSK, 18 July (BelTA) - It's only a matter of time when the U.S. hegemony ends, Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Maksim Ryzhenkov said on the air of the ONT TV channel, BelTA has learned.

“Today is the time of diplomacy. You see how painful the transformation from a unipolar to a multipolar world is for the world. Even Americans have no doubts that the world is heading towards this multipolarity, and it is only a matter of time when this hegemony ends. Everyone understands this,” Maksim Ryzhenkov noted.

According to him, the most important task of politicians and diplomats in all countries today is to find a place for their state in the new architecture. “It will be the time when everyone starts to negotiate on this order,” the minister added.

The existing conflicts in various regions of the world, according to the minister, show the imperfection of the unipolar world. “Everyone understands that international organizations, which are supposed to deal with global security and stability but are failing, need to change. We should somehow agree with each other, regardless of the size of a country and its economic potential.  Good cross-border cooperation is better than any war,” Maksim Ryzhenkov said. “Shuttle diplomacy has now become the main job of diplomats from many countries: traveling to each other, attending international forums, holding conferences.

“Russia and Belarus are promoting the proposal to sign a charter of multipolarity and diversity. The Chinese side is nurturing corresponding things. Peace initiatives on Ukraine, UN reform... Today the world is abuzz with these things. Therefore, from the point of view of a diplomat who wants to prove himself and who wants to take part in something important, it is exactly the time to work,” the minister summarized.
