MINSK, 7 July (BelTA) – Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Maksim Ryzhenkov held bilateral talks with heads of a number of foreign delegations on the sidelines of the 17th BRICS Summit in Rio de Janeiro, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The meeting with Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez focused on practical steps to implement the agreements reached during the Cuban president’s recent official visit to Belarus.
Maksim Ryzhenkov and Nigerian President Bola Tinubu discussed how Belarus can help Nigeria implement the next stage of its agricultural mechanization project. Belarus’ assistance may include the creation of regional service centers and, in the future, an assembly factory. During the meeting, the Nigerian leader highly praised the quality and reliability of the Belarusian machinery.
During the talks with Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Murat Nurtleu, the parties compared notes on the entire spectrum of the bilateral agenda and planned future collaborative actions.
Maksim Ryzhenkov met with the Minister Attached to the Prime Minister's Office of Thailand to discuss the agenda of the upcoming visit of Belarusian foreign ministry leadership to Thailand. The agenda includes easing visa requirements, establishing direct flights and other measures to facilitate visits to Thailand for Belarusians,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
Chair of the New Development Bank Dilma Rousseff was invited to visit Belarus to discuss a cooperation roadmap, including prospects for Belarus’ membership in this BRICS structure.
During his visit to Brazil, Maksim Ryzhenkov met with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan. The diplomats shared their perspectives on global affairs and the relationship between the two countries, focusing on their political ties, trade relations, and economic partnerships. Particular attention was paid to the settlement of the Ukraine-Russia conflict

“To identify priority avenues for expanding bilateral trade and economic cooperation with Brazil, the Belarusian foreign minister held a meeting with the leadership of the Brazilian National Confederation of Industry and the Industry Federation of the State of Rio de Janeiro. They discussed ways to boost trade and investment through increased interaction between Belarusian and Brazilian organizations, as well as partnerships in the manufacturing sector, agriculture, and science,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs informed.
