
MINSK, 11 February (BelTA) - During his visit to Beirut, Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Maksim Ryzhenkov met with Lebanese Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants Youssef Raji, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Maksim Ryzhenkov congratulated his Lebanese counterpart on taking office. The fact that Youssef Raji holds his first official meeting with the Belarusian delegation after taking the oath of office is a good sign for the bilateral relations, the Belarusian minister noted.
Maksim Ryzhenkov emphasized the traditionally friendly relations between the Belarusian and Lebanese peoples. He assured that Belarus firmly adheres to the principles of Lebanon's sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity and is ready to support its Lebanese partners in international organizations in order to promote them.
"The parties discussed the use of inter-ministerial tools for the development of relations, including political consultations and organization of a meeting of the joint Belarusian-Lebanese commission on trade and economic cooperation," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs informed. “The ministers agreed to actively cooperate in order to solve the tasks set for the foreign ministries by the heads of state.
The Lebanese minister of foreign affairs was invited to visit Belarus to discuss the whole range of political, trade and economic, contractual, legal and consular issues, the press service said.
