Ryabkov: Russia is not prepared to publicly debate Trump's proposals for settlement in Ukraine

MINSK, 26 November (BelTA) - Moscow is not prepared to publicly debate U.S. President Donald Trump's proposals for a settlement in Ukraine, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov told the media, TASS reports.

“We are not prepared to publicly discuss certain details of current events, including various versions of this peace plan. Ultimately, time and focused attention are required for the dialogue process to continue,” he said.

Sergey Rybakov noted that the search for diplomatic paths to resolve the conflict requires quiet work, while the Western press creates a hype that is being used as a weapon in the information war.

He dismissed suggestions that Russia might make concessions in response to an updated U.S. peace plan for Ukraine.  "We welcome the Trump administration’s efforts to find reasonable solutions. Various versions of the U.S. plan are subject to talk. There can be no talk of any concessions or surrendering our approach regarding the key issues we’re facing, including in the context of the Special Military Operation,” Sergey Ryabkov added.

When discussing Russia-U.S. relations, Sergey Ryabkov pointed out that they are still in the early stages of normalization. He stated that U.S. actions in relations with Russia remain quite contradictory. “Despite the current U.S. administration's declared support for restoring dialogue with Russia, as well as what appears to be a course toward normalizing Russian-American relations, Washington's actions (and we judge by them)are quite contradictory,” the diplomat noted. He also added that Russia is prepared to continue dialogue with the U.S. on issues of mutual interest.
