Russian MFA: West is sweeping situation with attacks on ZNPP under the rug

MOSCOW, 10 April (BelTA) - The West has decided to sweep the situation with attacks on the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) under the rug,  spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova said at a briefing for the press in Moscow on 10 April, BelTA has learned.

"Russia raised the issue of attacks by the Kiev regime against the ZNPP both at the IAEA and in the UN Security Council. Russia called on the leadership of the IAEA to give direct assessments of criminal actions, without any tricks, evasions, or insinuations. At our initiative, an extraordinary session of the IAEA Board of Governors will be called. The issue of Ukrainian attacks on the plant will also be raised during a briefing of the UN Security Council during a briefing of the UN Security Council,” Maria Zakharova informed.

“Moscow will continue trying to get international organizations to acknowledge what is really going on around the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant and in Ukraine as a whole. This should be an open, direct, fact-based conversation. It seems to me, it is long overdue. The situation around the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant vividly confirms this," she added.

Maria Zakharova pointed out that the West is sweeping the situation under the rug. "They are literally blocking any news about it in their own mainstream propaganda news outlets," she highlighted. "Moreover, here and there we even hear the direct approval of criminal actions by the Kiev regime, including those committed against nuclear facilities," the diplomat added.

“We will take every effort to make sure that such abetting of the Kiev regime crimes does not go unnoticed by the sensible majority of the international community,” Maria Zakharova noted.
