MINSK, 4 December (BelTA) - The escalation in Syria has Ukrainian fingerprints, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said at a briefing for the press in Moscow on 4 December, BelTA has learned.
"We resolutely condemn this attack spearheaded by the individuals recognized as terrorists by the United Nations Security Council. We emphasize a clear Ukrainian influence in the ranks of foreign militants, including those from the post-Soviet space," she stated.
The Russian diplomat noted that Russia stands in solidarity with the people and leadership of Syria amid the escalation of the conflict in the country. Moscow supports the efforts of the authorities to counter terrorists and restore order.
“We express our solidarity with the leadership of Syria, its people in this difficult situation. We reaffirm our commitment to the sovereignty, unity, territorial integrity of Syria. We strongly support the efforts of the Syrian authorities to counter terrorist groups and restore constitutional order,” Maria Zakharova said.
She also said that the guarantors of the Astana process keep in contact amid the escalation in Syria.
