Russian MFA: Kiev’s allies are starting to divide Ukraine

MOSCOW, 13 March (BelTA) -  French President Emmanuel Macron’s remarks about possible deployment of troops to Ukraine suggest that Western countries have started dividing Ukraine, spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova said at a briefing for the press in Moscow on 13 March, BelTA has learned.

Maria Zakharova noted that Macron "continues making statements about possible deployment of troops to Ukraine." "Clearly, Ukraine’s allies have started dividing the country. All the statements that Macron and other political figures from NATO member states are making about possible deployment of troops or some paramilitary forces to Ukraine are about the division of Ukraine as they see it," she added.

The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry noted that the endless flirting with the topic of Ukraine's accession to NATO is also about that. “Because making Ukraine part of NATO would mean that all of the bloc’s members are ready to recognize its borders but not all NATO members are ready to do that. They are ready to occupy Ukraine and divide it; this is what political leaders in those countries are openly talking about. Actually, they are beginning to rhetorically prepare their own people and Ukrainian citizens for such actions," Maria Zakharova added.

“This is being done under a false flag, which is the modus operandi of NATO. The alleged confrontation with Russia is a theatrics show. In fact, they got down to splitting what’s left of Ukraine," the diplomat stressed.
